Frits Barend thinks he may have stopped presenting talk shows with Henk van Dorp too early. Yet he does not regret it. According to the 73-year-old presenter, it was time to think about his wife and family.

“When I told Marijke and the children that we wanted to quit, I noticed that a burden was falling off their shoulders,” says Frits in De Telegraaf appendix Vrij. “We had a vague offer to continue – and Henk initially had an ear for that – but I noticed that I wouldn’t enjoy Marijke and the children with it. They always thought of us, now it was time to think about them. ”
“Henk and I have had a golden time thanks to that program, also at home, let me not be too dramatic about it,” Frits resigned. “But I did something to them. I realized that too late. ”
The Barend & Van Dorp program ran for more than ten years. In 2006 the plug went out.
