Originally, a cycling rally should have started on the square of the Old Synagogue, around 1000 participants were expected. The reason for the rejection is the current infection situation in the region. “We have a great responsibility towards all people in the risk group and all other people affected and therefore cannot answer for a bicycle demonstration due to the current high incidence and prospects for a third wave,” said the group’s press release. “We had set ourselves a limit of 30 for the seven-day incidence,” says Sarah-Lea Kuner from Fridays For Future, “and said, if it goes beyond that, we’ll cancel.” Because the catchment area of the demonstration was larger, the incidence values of Emmendingen and the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district were also included, both of which are currently well, well above the 30 mark.
