At the time of writing these lines, the results of the second round of the French presidential election 2022 have not yet been fully counted for the cities of Chicago (9141 registered) and New Orleans (924). Those of Atlanta (6398), Boston (7987), Houston (8261), Los Angeles (25,943), Miami (9733), New York (29,766), San Francisco (24,258) and Washington (12,798) allow however to establish the main trends in the United States.
Thus, Emmanuel Macron, the outgoing president, came well ahead by winning 90.7% of the vote (9.3% for Marine Le Pen). The participation rate reached 35.4%.
Atlanta: 87.1% for Macron
The overwhelming majority of French expatriates in the American city gave their choice to the candidate of La République En Marche (87.1%). However, participation was lower than the national average (29.4%).
Boston: overwhelming victory for the incumbent
This is the American city where the French abroad were the most favorable to the re-election of Emmanuel Macron (95.5%). Participation was also higher than average with 39.2%.
Houston: the candidate of La République is running well ahead
86.1% of French expatriates in Houston voted for the current tenant of the Élysée. Turnout reached 36.8%.
Los Angeles: low rate ofparticipation
Los Angeles is the city where expatriates have the least scramble to hand in their ballots (25.9%). Emmanuel Macron is also acclaimed there with 87.4% of the votes in his favour.
Miami: best score in the United States for Marine Le Pen
Marine Le Pen achieves her highest score in the American city of Miami. Nearly one in four French people voted in favor (24%). The participation rate is also below the national average (29.2%)
New York: Macron largely in the lead
Emmanuel Macron obtains 93.5% of the votes of French New Yorkers. Participation also reached 40% in this city in the United States.
San Francisco: highest turnout
San Francisco is the city where participation in the second round of the French presidential election was the highest (41.2%). The majority of voters voted in favor of the candidate of La République En Marche (93.7%).
Washington: less than 10% for the National Rally candidate
Finally, 91.3% of expatriates in Washington gave their vote to Emmanuel Macron. Le Pen therefore collects less than 10%. The participation rate was 37.1%.
