The mobilization day of December 12 allowed the staff of the vocational high school to show their determination in the face of a reform which once again causes students to lose teaching time and which once again deteriorates teaching conditions.
With this modification of the timetable, we are a long way from the “shock of knowledge” desired by the ministry: without counting the 6 weeks of differentiated courses, the students lose 71 hours of professional teaching, the hours of masterpiece (renowned “project”) and 2 of the 3 hours of personalized support. Over three years, 170 hours are lost for students even though the ministry claims, at the same time, to reinforce fundamental knowledge.
No assessment has been drawn from the 2019 reform and a new ideological reform is already being imposed on staff who are morally tired by the progressive undermining of vocational education under school status. What’s more, this reform is planned to apply from the start of the 2024 school year, while 1st grade students have not been prepared for this new version of the final year; while the PLPs were unable to adapt their courses and progressions; and while the President announced the closure or transformation of 15% of sectors at the start of the next school year. We are once again asking a generation to absorb the scars of a disastrous reform with an untenable timetable.
Going against this logic of strengthening the place of the company, SUD education calls for a return to the vocational baccalaureate in 4 years within the framework of a vocational high school combining vocational education and general education, and which provides students with autonomy and critical thinking. .
