French education in Morocco: here are the details of the terms of the start of the new school year in establishments under the AEFE and OSUI

The date of September 7 marking the start of the school year in Morocco is approaching, and the preparations of the various bodies, both private and public, of the national education system are accelerating to guarantee the necessary conditions in the current particular context. Here is what you need to know about AEFE network establishments (Agency for French Education Abroad, editor’s note) and OSUI ( the International School and University Office, editor’s note) in Morocco.

In order to better prepare for the start of the school year, the Embassy of France in Morocco recently sent a letter to the school communities of the French education network in Morocco, in particular theAEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad) andOSUI (International School and University Office), to present the preparations in progress.

“The context of this return is unprecedented. The top priority remains the student safety and the staff who supervise them. In this exceptional situation, we also keep all our educational ambition in the service of the success and well-being of the students, ”recalls the embassy in its letter, adding that in accordance with the announcements of the Ministry of National Education, Training Professional, Higher Education and Research in the Kingdom of Morocco, children whose parents so request may be accommodated in said establishments from September 7.

It should be noted that for this purpose, health protocols have been drawn up in each of them, strictly respecting the recommendations issued by the Moroccan authorities. We learn that these preventive measures will be adapted to the specific situation of each school footprint and may evolve according to local requirements. “Depending on their reception capacity and these protocols, establishments that cannot accommodate all students simultaneously throughout school time will offer recourse to hybrid teaching methods. They will alternate face-to-face and distance education by rotating day, half-day or week, with additional distance education that will be offered in the best possible conditions. Each establishment will communicate in the days to come on this point, ”specifies the letter.

As for distance education, let us note that “the establishments will offer it under conditions necessarily different from the last term, insofar as teachers will also be mobilized on theface-to-face teaching “. The Embassy’s Cooperation and Cultural Action Service points out that even if fully distance learning was an essential recourse during the months of confinement, the fact remains that experience shows that it does not offer the same guarantees as face-to-face teaching for the individualized monitoring of pupils and for their well-being.

The Embassy appeals to theengagement staff from said establishments and families alike in order to meet this challenge together and preserve the quality of the school network in this exceptional context. Regarding the device, we note that the students are welcomed in small groups to respect social distancing. Thus, for middle school and high school, the hours are from 7.45 a.m. to 5:05 p.m., with a meridian break according to the timetable, and the classrooms are arranged to allow a hybrid education with distant pupils and pupils. in person. It should also be noted that for each class, one group comes in week A, another comes in week B, and the students who are not on site follow the teaching of their class at a distance. However, it should be noted that this device may undergo modifications, depending on the epidemiological evolution and the instructions of the Moroccan authorities.
