Niort only has the championship to contend for. During the sixteenth of final which opposed the residents of Ligue 2 at theAJ Auxerre, it was the Burgundians who left victorious. The match was very widely dominated by the Auxerrois who deceived the Niortaise defense four times.
From the first half, Auxerre took control of the match. The Chamois defense folded for the first time shortly after half an hour of play before cracking a second time, three minutes from halftime.
With two goals down at the break, hopes of a qualification were extremely slim. During the second period, the Auxerrois continued to attack and scored two new goals. Final score: 4-0.
Gaetan Perrin scored twice for AuxerreNuno Da Costa et Matthis Abline are the other two scorers of the evening.
Mandatory reaction against Nîmes
With this elimination, Niort only has the championship to compete for. The objective is clear, get hold in Ligue 2. For that, the Chamois will have to bring back a result of Nimes, this Saturday, January 28. The kick-off will be given at 7 p.m.
In case of defeat, Niort would move away a little further from the first non-relegation and would chain a third loss in a row.
