It’s two to two in the quarter-final series “Best of Five” between the EHC Freiburg and the ESV Kaufbeuren. Freiburg had won Game 1 6: 4 at home, Kaufbeuren countered two days later with a 6: 3 win at home. Last Tuesday, the Wolves lost their second home game against the Allgäu with 5: 2 and were just about to be eliminated against the Kaufbeuren away before game four on last Thursday.
With a brilliant defensive performance and a deserved 3-1 away win, the Freiburg team pulled their heads out of the loop again and today they can book a place in the semi-finals in the decisive game five with the home advantage.
The prospects for the decisive victory are not bad. On the one hand, Freiburg have the home advantage and not a long bus trip behind them. Second, the sick and injured camp of the third in the main round could thin out further.
With Peter Spornberger and Marvin Neher, two important defensive forces returned on Thursday. It is to be hoped that more players could add to the Wolves’ roster.
