In its meeting on December 17, 2021, the Board of Directors, chaired by Mayor Martin Horn, unanimously elected 48-year-old Daniel Zeiler to head the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau.

On November 1, 2022, he will take over the position of CEO. At this point in time, Marcel Thimm will retire after 23 years on the board and around 47 years in the savings bank organization.

Daniel Zeiler is an excellent savings bank specialist. He completed his training at the largest savings bank in Baden-Württemberg, Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw, and got to know all facets of the savings bank business. In addition to managerial roles in corporate banking and as managing director of the associated company there, he also performed executive board duties as a deputy member of the board. He is a graduate of the Management Academy of the Sparkasse Organization and has an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Since 2018 he has been on the board of the Kreissparkasse Tuttlingen, responsible for the areas of overall bank and risk management, which will also be part of his area of ​​responsibility in Freiburg.
