Freiburg: 25 October: Partial solar eclipse on the Regio – Planetarium Freiburg offers video and observation station

Next Tuesday, October 25th, a silent and heavenly spectacle will take place above us: at 11:14 (local time in Freiburg) a partial solar eclipse will begin, which means that the sun will be partially covered by the new moon. The maximum eclipse, in which about 19 percent of the solar disk is obscured, is reached at 12:10. The show ends at 1:08 pm.

The team from the Freiburg Planetarium has produced a video that provides detailed information on the eclipse. It is available at www.planetarium-freiburg.de. It also explains how to observe the sun safely, that is, under no circumstances without protection.

In addition, on Tuesday 25 October, from 11:00 to 13:15, the planetarium – supported by Sternfreunde Breisgau – invites interested observers to an observation station on the square in front of Richard-Fehrenbach-Gewerbeschule (Friedrichstraße). There, the team installed some telescopes through which the sun can be observed safely. The offer can only be made in good weather. When it rains, the eclipse observation falls into the water.

Up-to-date information on this will also be available on www.planetarium-freiburg.de in due course.
