Payoneer is an electronic payments company that benefits professionals and companies when issuing and receiving payments globally. This company was founded since 2005 and operates in more than 200 countries worldwide. In Venezuela it is used by independent professionals because it allows the use of a prepaid credit card in dollars using accounts abroad.
The Payoneer company is advising its clients about the freeze on prepaid card activity.
In a statement issued by Pay, indicated the following to customers who have prepaid cards:
“As you may have seen in the news, Wirecard AG filed for insolvency on Thursday. Your Payoneer Prepaid Mastercard® card is issued by its subsidiary, Wirecard Card Solutions Limited (WCSL) in the United Kingdom. Today, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) that regulates the WCSL, issued WCSL requirements, freezing all prepaid card activity for the time being. We believe that the funds of the cardholders are properly protected and that the freeze will be temporary. ”
Also, clarified that the FCA, for its part, has communicated that they have taken these measures with the main objective of protecting the interests and money of Wirecard’s clients.
From Payoneer they also clarified that, pending new actions by the FCA, temporarily their clients will not be able to withdraw the funds from the card, or receive new payments in it.
“Any fund that exceeds the maximum balance on your card will be held by Payoneer and therefore will not be affected by the FCA temporary freeze.“They added.
Alternative to charge
From Payoneer also reported that any future payment received from the markets, platforms and clients, will not be affected by the freeze.. And that customers can log in to view their funds, and can also add their bank account to withdraw their future incoming payments.
“We are actively working to offer additional options for you and your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we will update you with more information as soon as we have it.s ”, they concluded.
Venezuelan customers tied by hand before the measure
