Free update, “The Witcher 3 next generation version” released on December 14th

The next generation version of “The Witcher 3 (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)” by CD Project Red (CDPR), which was delayed due to the extensive improvement work of Cyberpunk 2077 and the development of the Phantom expansion pack Liberty. The release has been confirmed for December.

CDPR confirmed the release of the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 on December 14th on the 15th in Korea and announced the release of more information. The next-gen version of The Witcher 3, as the name suggests, is a version with various features added and updated to fit next-gen consoles such as PS5 and Xbox series X|S.

The next-gen version will feature loading speed improvements for next-gen consoles that include ray tracing, SSD speed improvements, and a host of visual and technical improvements. In addition to the fixed console, the PC version will also be applied with a number of improvements under the name of the next generation version. As a result, players can experience all the contents of the Complete Edition which includes the Witcher 3 Expansion Pack with improved gameplay.

CDPR previously announced free updates for the games. Players who already own the PS4, Xbox One and PC version of The Witcher 3 can get the upgrade to the next-gen version for free with no further purchases. Additionally, users who have not yet purchased The Witcher 3 can purchase a digital version of The Witcher 3 next-gen on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. However, the physical package version will be released after the digital version.

In addition to the next-generation version, various improvements are applied to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The content will be provided as an update, along with additional Netflix themed content.

CDPR has announced the development and release of the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, but this has been postponed indefinitely with the next-gen version update of Cyberpunk 2077 postponed to 2021. However, in May of this year year, along with the 7th anniversary of the release of The Witcher 3, the fourth quarter release of the game was again announced. Since the game was confirmed to release on December 14th, the promise of a 4Q release has been fulfilled.
