This Friday noon in Bordeaux, more than 150 people gathered for a punch action on the Saint Selve toll. On the initiative of the Bordeaux committee of the Network for the General Strike, a free toll has been set up for motorists. The mobilization was followed by sobriety which allowed the toll to be free for a few more hours. A symbolic action while on the same day, the Constitutional Council validated the pension reform passed in force by Emmanuel Macron.
The initiative was hailed by motorists, who responded by honking their horns to show their support. ” A solidarity and symbolic action that worked very well since, as in the polls, 80% of the population is with us ” testifies Christophe, general secretary of the CGT Énergie 33 at the microphone of Révolution Permanente.
On site, many sectors were present, energy companies but also many teachers, railway workers, as well as young people from different political organizations and trade unions. On the side of motorists and truck drivers, a lot of solidarity was expressed. Many of them donated to the militant strike fund at the deadline. CGT Energy 33 claims tens of thousands of euros in losses for Vinci following the mobilization.
An action that calls for others, as an activist from Le Poing Levé points out: “ Whatever the decision of the Constitutional Council, we will continue the movement, the government has shown that regardless of the anger that is expressed, it will pass in force, so we too “. In a statement, the organizations present claim ” winning the withdrawal of this pension counter-reform by targeting capital, and there, consequently, Vinci which generated more than 1 billion in dividends last year. We understand better why Big Capital is the first support of the Government and their pension reform. It is this one who will, once again, be the one and only winner while the workers will toil for two more years… »
In the process, a demonstration was called the same evening at 7 p.m. on Place de la Victoire to challenge the validation of the pension reform by the Constitutional Council. In this sense, we call on all those who refuse to stop fighting, to join the various action committees for the general strike!
