Free Bus Service Begins for Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge Shared Use Route – NBC New York (47)

The free Hudson Link bus service, which serves the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge Shared Use Route, restarts every weekend beginning this Saturday, May 28 through Sunday, October 30.

This transit service provides pedestrians and bicyclists with service from select locations in Westchester and Rockland counties to one of the longest shared-use paths in the country. Nearly half a million visitors have enjoyed the amenities along the shared path of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge since it opened two years ago.

New York is unique for its unparalleled beauty and the countless outdoor activities it has to offer,” said Governor Hochul. “By offering free shuttle service and increased access to bike trails, we are giving New Yorkers the opportunity to explore the beauty of the state while boosting our tourism economy this Memorial Day weekend.”

Shuttle buses will run every 20 minutes between 9:30am and 9:30pm on weekends and allow easy access to landings on both sides of the road. The shuttle has four stops and travels both eastbound and westbound to support use of the shared use route.

The four stops include:

  • Path’s Rockland County landing in South Nyack
  • Palisades Center – Lot J
  • Path’s Westchester County landing in Tarrytown
  • Tarrytown train station

If the main parking lots on either side are full, visitors can find additional parking in Westchester at the Tarrytown Rail Station and in Rockland at the Palisades Center – Lot J. Visitors can also take the Metro-North Hudson Line to Tarrytown. Parking lots along the way have a four-hour time limit and fill up quickly on weekends.

Rockland Landing is located at 1200 Route 9W in South Nyack, inside Interchange 10 of the New York State Thruway. The trail is accessible to local residents and bicyclists via a spur that also connects to the Esposito Trail, local sidewalks, and State Bike Route 9. Westchester Landing is located at 333 South Broadway in Tarrytown.

Each Hudson Link bus has a bike rack that holds up to three full-size bikes and follows ADA accessibility guidelines. Hudson Link prioritizes health and safety, requiring face coverings and physical distancing on board the shuttle bus. After a fun-filled day on the road, the shuttle bus takes visitors back to their cars or to the train station.

At 3.6 miles, the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge features one of the longest shared-use paths in the United States. Located on the north side of the bridge’s westbound span, cyclists and pedestrians are met by six scenic overlooks, interpretive signage, and public art as they cross the Hudson River. Food, restrooms, and other services are available at locations in Westchester and Rockland counties. At Westchester Landing, visitors can enjoy the services of two providers: Sleek eBikes and Double Barrel Roasters.
