Freddie Mercury’s Iconic “Magic” Tour Crown Up for Auction at Sotheby’s in New York

According to the catalogue, Sotheby’s has estimated a price of between 60,000 and 80,000 pounds (about 70,000 to 93,000 euros) for the jeweled imitation crown and the corresponding cape with a cape made of faux fur and dark red velvet. The ensemble is to be auctioned in September along with hundreds of other objects from Mercury’s London brick villa “Garden Lodge”. The “Magic” tour was Mercury’s last. The singer fell ill with AIDS and died on November 24, 1991 at the age of 45 in London as a result of pneumonia.
