Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 team principal Franz Tost has been named as one of the people who turned down Ferrari’s offer to become F1 team principal.
Italian media say it won’t be long before Ferrari announces the sacking of F1 team principal Mattia Binotto, while a replacement has yet to be hired and the search for a new team principal is ongoing. .
Frédéric Vasseur’s name first surfaced a few weeks ago. Vasseur of France is now at the helm of the Alfa Romeo F1 team, but Ferrari see him as a worthy successor to Mattia Binotto.
Charles Leclerc knows Frédéric Vasseur well, having made his F1 debut with Alfa Romeo Sauber in 2018. The contract has not yet been signed, but Vasseur is the main contender.
But it is debatable whether Frédéric Vasseur is Ferrari’s favourite.
The Corriere reports that several have already rejected Ferrari’s offers. Andreas Seidl (McLaren), Franz Tost (AlphaTauri) and Gerhard Berger (DTM boss and former F1 team boss) have reportedly given no notice to Ferrari.
Frédéric Vasseur, meanwhile, says he has already started taking Italian lessons, but many company employees are not happy with the arrival of Alfa Romeo’s F1 team boss. His resume is not very impressive. His tenure at the Renault F1 Team was a complete failure and his years with his current employer are also insignificant.
Mattia Binotto will become the fourth team principal to leave Ferrari since 2014, following the sacking of Mattia Binotto.

Within Ferrari there seems to be a large rift between Mattia Binotto and Frédéric Vasseur.
