The M&A and corporate specialist Bergau switched from Hoffmann Liebs Fritsch & Partner to Pinsent Masons in February 2016, shortly after the firm opened its office in Düsseldorf. Bergau’s consulting focus is on the health and energy sectors, and he also regularly advises industrial and technology companies. Last year he was part of the Pinsent team that advised the Straumann Group on the acquisition of a majority stake in the Berlin start-up DrSmile.

Bergau started his legal career in 2001 at Hengeler Mueller. In autumn 2003 he switched to Hoffmann Liebs, and in 2005 he became a partner there. At Frankus, he strengthens the Japan team headed by Toyo Nishimura and will advise Japanese clients on M&A transactions in the future. Frankus currently owns more than 200 Japanese companies. The MDP company currently has around 80 employees, including more than 30 professionals, including eight partners.
