Frankfurt and Munich: Lufthansa cancels 2,200 more holiday flights Regional

Frankfurt – A summer holiday chaos is imminent.

As BILD learned, Lufthansa wants to cancel another 2,200 flights in the holiday months of July and August. The passengers should now be informed.

Just two weeks ago, Lufthansa announced that it was removing 900 flights from the Frankfurt and Munich hubs. The days of the week that were affected were Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Now the other days of the week are also affected by the cancellations. Flights within Germany and within Europe will be cancelled, long-haul connections should not be affected.

A Lufthansa spokesman confirms the BILD information: “In order to inform the passengers as early as possible, Lufthansa will now take another 2,200 of a total of around 80,000 flights at the hubs in Frankfurt and Munich out of the system for the summer – also on the others, weekdays less affected so far. The cancellations relate in particular to domestic German and intra-European flights, but not to the classic holiday destinations, which are well occupied during the holiday season. In addition, there may also be changes in flight times.”

The 2,200 canceled flights affect more than 250,000 holidaymakers. The reasons for this: staff shortages after Corona.
