Francesco Bagnaia Equals Valentino Rossi’s Slick Achievement After Winning Pole Position in the 2021 US MotoGP : Okezone Sports

AUSTIN – Lenovo Ducati Team Racer, Francesco Bagnaia should be proud of having just succeeded in matching one of the slick achievements of Valentino Rossi. The achievement in question is that he succeeded in following in Rossi’s footsteps in winning a hat-trick of pole position at MotoGP.

As is known, Bagnaia has succeeded in becoming the fastest racer in the United States (US) 2021 MotoGP qualification and has the right to take pole position. It was his third straight pole this season.

Bagnaia successfully took pole position at the United States MotoGP at the Austin Circuit after recording a time of 2 minutes 2.781 seconds. This success continued his success in the two previous series matches at the Aragon MotoGP and the San Marino MotoGP, which also managed to get a pole position.

This achievement also made Bagnaia follow the record of a living MotoGP legend, Valentino Rossi. This is because Pecco – Bagnaia’s nickname – is the first Italian rider to take pole position three times in a row since Rossi, who last got it in 2009 (Sachsenring to Brno).

In addition, Bagnaia also recorded other positive results by becoming the first Ducati rider to successfully hat-trick pole position. Previously, there was Jorge Lorenzo in 2018 who scored three consecutive pole positions from Silverstone to Aragon.

Another impressive record can also be obtained if he is able to win the 2021 US MotoGP. Bagnaia will become the second Ducati rider to achieve three consecutive wins.

As is known, Bagnaia appeared very impressive in the last two series. Bagnaia managed to be the fastest when the race took place at the Aragon and Misano Circuits, and emerged as the winner of the race.

The 24-year-old racer is now looking seriously at the 2021 United States MotoGP. Especially with his improving appearance, it is very likely that Bagnaia can repeat as the first in the race that will take place at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

Bagnaia and Rossi

The victory is clearly needed by Bagnaia so that he can continue to press Fabio Quartararo in the 2021 MotoGP rider standings.

Bagnaia is still in second place in the MotoGP standings this season. Pecco and leader Fabio Quartararo are only 48 points apart.
