France’s objections prevent EU plan for ammunition supply to Ukraine

Poland is the largest producer of this type of ammunition in Europe, but such projectiles are also produced in Germany and France, PAP reports.

However, Germany has transferred this production to Great Britain, which is no longer a member of the EU.

France, on the other hand, insists that the bloc only finance the purchase of ammunition produced in the EU.

“They want a 100% EU supply chain,” a diplomat told Euronews, lamenting the “endless corrections of the French.”

Taking into account the fact that the implementation of the plan requires the support of all 27 member states, France’s objections prevent a final decision, according to “money.pl”.

Other member states hope that Sweden, the current presiding country, will be able to “save the plan”, but France does not back down from its objections, which are “basically directed against Germany and its ammunition factories in Great Britain”, an EU diplomat admitted.

He added that the war continues and Ukraine urgently needs ammunition, but “it turns out to be completely impossible to reach an agreement with France.”

“It is a shame,” the diplomat admitted to the PAP agency.
