France – World | Influenza: the epidemic in “strong increase”, all of France in red

The flu is now well established in France. All regions are now affected by the epidemic, according to data from Public Health France published on Wednesday.

The national public health agency notes “influenza activity on the rise in all metropolitan areas”.

The ILI consultation rate thus averages 301 per 100,000 inhabitants, an increase of 62% compared to the previous week. Emergency room visits (+ 56%) and hospitalizations (+ 72%) were also up sharply.

If all of France sees red, New Aquitaine (562 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (472 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and Île-de-France (353 cases per 100 000 inhabitants) are the three regions most affected by the epidemic.

Public Health France notes that “vaccination is the best way to protect yourself from the flu and its complications”.

She also recalls the other good gestures to protect yourself and those around you: wash your hands regularly with soap and water or with an alcoholic solution; cough or sneeze into his elbow; use a disposable handkerchief; wear a disposable mask when you have flu-like illness, especially in contact with frail people.
