France: The DNCG relegates the Girondins de Bordeaux to National 1

The National Management Control Department (DNCG) has relegated the Girondins de Bordeaux to National 1 for financial instability. Sportingly relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the 2021-2022 season, the Bordelais will therefore have to play in the third division next season, if the club gives no guarantee.

As part of the review of the situation of clubs for the 2022-2023 sports season, the Professional Clubs Control Commission has taken strong decisions in application of Article 11 of the DNCG Regulations. She decided to send the Girondins de Bordeaux to National 1, the third division of French football. According to the commission, the financial situation of the club was not going to allow the club to be able to be in the green during the next exercise in the second division. However, the club has already appealed this decision.

It should be noted that in Ligue 2, FC Annecy must face a measure “to control the wage bill and transfer allowances subject to confirmation of the granting of professional status by decision of the Council of ‘Administration of the LFP’, according to the point published by the DNCG.
