France :: Gabin Tchoupo, Dance Lover Unveils the Contours of Ballet from the Cameroonian Diaspora

It was for the love of studies that Gabin Tchoupo, the son of a dancer, moved to France. However, throughout his academic career, he realized that an essential element was missing from his life: his passion for dance, a cultural heritage deeply rooted in his veins. Under the influence of his parents’ filial love and passion for this art, he quickly gave in to the call of his true vocation. From then on, dancing became the means by which he filled the rest of his time.

Art is inseparable from Cameroon, as we know and as we repeat, a reality which is confirmed every day within the diaspora. Every step, every movement is tinged with the cultural richness of the country today called the Continent. To become a master in the field, Gabin Tchoupo undertook to create a group, drawing inspiration from his many past experiences in Cameroon, thus giving birth to the Ballet of the Cameroonian Diaspora. A great first which, shortly after, was followed by other communities which sought to imitate its example.

His dance troupe has become virtuoso in this art which is now causing a sensation in Europe, suggesting its upcoming expansion to other continents such as America and Asia. Despite the sometimes capricious reputation of artists, Gabin Tchoupo remained imbued with an exquisite modesty, worthy of a well-educated child. Before each important stage of his life, he takes care to consult his elders, seeking their approval and support to bring this colossal project to fruition.

Based in the peaceful town of Vitry-sur-Seine, this group of dancers quickly captivated the audience with incredible performances. They even had the honor of performing briefly at UNESCO in Paris and had several performances in the Paris region, reaching the apotheosis in Belgium which opened the doors of the legendary ALAMBRA hall to them on May 18, 2024. .

This powerful demonstration around African culture highlights the notion of “SUCCESSION” according to African tradition. All that remains for us to say is: business to follow, because a new page is being written with passion and dedication in our diaspora.
