In a press release published early in the afternoon of this Wednesday 11 May, we read: “The follow-up committee against sexist and sexual violence, set up within insubordinate France, was in fact seized” on Saturday “of a testimony relating to alleged facts of sexual violence reported against Taha Bouhafs”writes the committee, stating that the interested party “he decided to renounce the investiture on his own “after being told that La France insoumise “it could be induced not to run it over”.

Testimonies of sexual violence

In the wake of a meeting with Clémentine Autain and Mathilde Panot, she then withdrew her candidacy by sending a press release in the night from Monday to Tuesday, announcing her retirement from the campaign, following “an unprecedented storm of attacks ”. “I was already exhausted, the report was the last straw that led me to retire”points Taha Bouhafs to Mediapart. “This is part of the slander evoked in my press release.“, He said.

Parallel to this accusation, Caroline de Haas, a feminist activist, tells Mediapart that she has received, on her side, “two different testimonies of people who do not know each other (…) Disturbing testimonies and serious enough to prevent LFI”, she says. Done, on May 2, according to the activist.

Since his retirement, rebellious France has announced that it has invested a new candidate in the 14th district of the Rhone. This is Idir Boumertit, fourth deputy mayor of Vénissieux, led by the communist Michèle Picard. The latter had denounced Bouhafs’ candidacy to the constituency.
