France: Ineos Automotive announces the acquisition of the Hambach plant

LONDON (Reuters) – The British group Ineos Automotive announced on Tuesday the acquisition from the German Daimler of the plant in Hamburg, Moselle, and said that production of its 4×4 Grenadier will begin there at the end of 2021.

“We can now start preparations in Hambach to build our 4×4 from the end of next year for delivery to our customers around the world,” wrote Dirk Heilmann, CEO of the group, in a statement.

Daimler, which initially planned to build a compact electric Mercedes SUV in Hambach, announced this summer its intention to sell the site founded in 1997 for the production of the Smart and which employs 800 people, as part of a reorganization of its activities. blamed on the health crisis.
