To the tune of Gilbert Bécaud’s classic “I’ll come back to find you”, children rush to their grandmother, to finally find her and give her a hug.

The situation is imagined by the elderly lady, as she receives the COVID vaccine.

“It didn’t hurt too much,” the nurse asks, bringing her back to reality. “No, not at all, on the contrary,” the elderly lady happily replies.

Faced with the increase in the number of cases of COVID, driven by more contagious variants, the French government has called for accelerating vaccination, for the moment reserved in particular for retirement homes, those over 75, over 50 most fragile years and health professionals.

But supply is struggling to catch up with demand: according to French health authorities, 4.4% of adults in France have received a first injection, or 3.16 million people.

In the Paris region, hospitals and clinics have been ordered to deprogram 40% of their medical and surgical activities, to increase the number of intensive care beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients.

COVID-19 has officially killed more than 89,000 people in France, mostly very old people.
