JJ Abrams, the man behind the previous three films, will produce the film, but he will leave the directing to Matt Shakman who previously directed the Disney+ series. WandaVision made.
It is not yet known who will play the lead roles. After the third film from 2016, both Zachary Quinto (Mr. Spock) and Chris Pine (Captain Kirk) said they were looking forward to a fourth. It is not clear to what extent they are willing or able to free themselves for this today. The new Star trek should hit theaters by 2023.
