Four US states ban the sale of vodka >>> – russia.NEWS

The authorities expressed their solidarity with Ukraine and demanded that Russian-made alcohol be removed from the stores so as not to support Russian business

Authorities in the states of Ohio, Utah, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania have asked liquor stores to ban Russian brands and Russian-made beverages from sale.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox issued an executive order on February 26 requiring such action by the local Alcohol Control Board. He called the Russian military operation in Ukraine “an egregious violation of human rights” and said the state would refuse to support Russian companies out of solidarity with Kyiv.

The document banning Russian products from liquor stores was also signed by New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, following a letter from Gov. Tom Wolfe, the Pennsylvania Liquor Board issued a similar recommendation to Fine Wine & Good Spirits Stores. Wolfe, in his message to the regulator, called for Russian products in this network’s range to be identified and denied sale, “as a show of solidarity and support for the people of Ukraine and as an expression of our common opposition to the unprovoked actions of the Russian state.” Alcohol Sales Council leader Tim Holden agreed the measure was warranted “given the collapsing political and economic climate”.

Ohio Governor Mike Devine has ordered an end to the sale of Russian Standard Vodka, sold in the state under the Russian Standard Vodka and Green Mark Vodka brands. According to the authorities, around 6,400 bottles of these brands are currently for sale.
