Foundation Season 3 Resumes Production with New Changes
Filming to Begin in Prague and Polish Cities
Foundation, the Apple TV+ series, is set to resume production for its highly anticipated third season after facing delays due to budgeting and physical production issues. Filming is scheduled to start on March 6 and will primarily take place in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, as well as four cities in Poland – Warsaw, Kraków, Lublin, and Katowice. This new phase of production will bring about several changes to the show’s behind-the-scenes team.
Changes in Production Team
Following the completion of Season 2 and the already filmed portion of Season 3, line producer and co-executive producer Laurie Borg will be stepping down from the production. Taking her place as the new line producer will be Doug Moreno, who was previously credited as the production controller for Season 3. Alongside Moreno, executive producer Bill Bost will be relocating to Prague for the duration of principal photography. Bost played a significant role in the development of Foundation, both as the President of Skydance Television and as the series’ SVP of Television.
Continued Creative Involvment
Despite the transition in production roles, Foundation’s co-developer, executive producer, and showrunner, David S. Goyer, will continue to write and executive produce the series. While Goyer was initially planned to direct additional episodes of Season 3, it has been decided that his directing duties would be handled by others, and the replacement director(s) are currently being finalized. Goyer will oversee the show’s creative direction from Los Angeles.
Production Update and Series Overview
Foundation had already filmed several weeks of Season 3 before the industry-wide production shutdown. Sources suggest that about half of the season’s episodes are already completed. Due to budgeting and physical production challenges, the restart of production, originally scheduled for February, was postponed. However, these issues have been resolved, resulting in the resumption of filming.
Based on Isaac Asimov’s renowned trilogy, Foundation follows the journey of The Foundation, a group of exiles who discover that defying the Galactic Empire is the only way to save it from destruction. The series showcases the narratives of four pivotal individuals who transcend space and time, navigating treacherous crises, complex relationships, and shifting loyalties. Foundation stars Jared Harris and Lee Pace, accompanied by a talented ensemble cast.
