Epic Games has announced a new feature for Fortnite called performance mode, which will allow older computers to better handle the launch of the game. It will be available on December 15th.
The new mode “offers significant performance gains.” This is achieved at the expense of a slight decrease in image quality, which allows for lower memory consumption and lower load on the CPU and GPU. In other words, the company has simply added new graphics quality presets that are less demanding on the system’s hardware resources. Weak PC owners will see a corresponding hint about the availability of the new mode the next time they launch Fortnite. In addition, Epic Games will add the ability to remove high-resolution textures from the game package, which will significantly save storage space.
According to the developer, after activating the new production mode, users will notice a significant increase in the frame rate in the game when it is launched on older computers. The new feature will be available for Battle Royale and Creative modes.
