Alain Prost, quadruple world champion and non-executive director of Renault in Formula 1, predicts new records for Lewis Hamilton.
The Briton is well on the way to dethroning Michael Schumacher at the top of the shelves, starting with the most prestigious, that of the world titles obtained.
“Lewis’ level of driving and his confidence in his Mercedes team, as well as the fact that the rules will not change until 2022, give him a good chance of winning at least two more titles,” explains the Frenchman.
“I don’t see anyone to beat him right now. What Lewis is accomplishing is incredible. But you can only claim it through a long collaboration with a domineering team. Michael had achieved it with Ferrari and now it’s Lewis’s turn for Mercedes. “
The context is therefore very favorable according to Prost, with exceptional stability for the Briton, in the same team, for several years, with cars always at the best level.
“He is evolving in an ideal psychological context, with great team stability and a number 2 driver.”
F1 has also released a ranking of the fastest drivers in history and Senna remains ahead of Schumacher and Hamilton according to a statistical study.
“It is futile to want to compare Hamilton to Senna, like Senna to Fangio, etc. The challenges are not the same, but the achievements are very real and deserve respect.”
