Valtteri Bottas insists that he has “nothing to fear” for his future, despite the start of the delayed 2020 season and the fact that he still has no contract signed for next year.
Mika Hakkinen, part of the Finnish management team, recently said that the Mercedes driver “prepared at a very high physical and psychological level” to face Lewis Hamilton in 2020.
But there is still speculation about the place of Bottas, who could be replaced by George Russell or even Sebastian Vettel in 2021.
“Sometimes it surprises me that although we didn’t race, there is still this speculation,” admits Bottas.
“There have been a lot of movements in the other teams, but there is nothing to fear for me. Some teams or some pilots may have different deadlines when they have to make decisions and sign agreements, whether there are races or not. “
“As long as I can drive this year, everything is fine and we will see what happens.”
Bottas would not find itself without a bucket seat according to this speculation since it would replace Daniel Ricciardo at Renault F1. Is that why he says there is nothing to fear for him?
