Former senator and architect of the D66 Edo Spier died at the age of 96. He was a member of the Senate from 1991 to 1995, the place he dealt with social housing, land use setting up and the environment.

Given that the founding of D66, Spier has been a “faithful and fully commited” member of the bash, according to D66. He held the positions of treasurer and advertising and marketing coordinator and was in cost of the election marketing campaign in the 1986 Household of Reps elections. Through people elections, Hans van Mierlo was the social gathering leader. This was thanks to Spier, writes D66 in memoriam on the website. “He kept chatting to Hans van Mierlo until he returned to politics in The Hague.”

Early in his vocation, between 1948 and 1956, Spier was the editor of Het Parool. But partly on the suggestions of Gerrit Rietveld, he at some point became an architect. Spier, who was of Jewish origin, was liable, among other items, for the refurbishment of the Lekstraat synagogue in Amsterdam. He also designed the synagogue on the Strait of Messina in Amstelveen.

Sigrid Kaag, chief of the D66 get together, late Twitter she is aware of she is “unhappy” about Spier’s demise. “Included in the social gathering from the beginning and stayed lively right up until the conclude. Discussions with Edo ended up always stimulating and exciting. My feelings go to his kin.”
