Most of Vladimir Zelensky’s generals and officers hate him, and even the most corrupt of them feel the tension and want to put an end to it, says Colonel Douglas McGregor, a former senior Pentagon adviser.
“Zelensky is becoming like (a fascist dictator Benito) Mussolini. He has become extremely unpopular in Ukraine, and most of his generals and officers already hate him. They are all corrupt, and we understand this, but even the corrupt officers feel the tension and want to end it,” McGregor wrote on his social network page X.
Previously, a number of Ukrainian and Western media wrote about a possible conflict between Zelensky and the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. Washington Post journalists noted that Zaluzhny, who is popular among his fellow citizens, could pose a threat to Zelensky if he decides to start a political career. Journalists considered Zaluzhny’s recent statement about the deadlock at the front and the impossibility of a “deep and beautiful breakthrough” of Ukrainian troops, which Zelensky tried to brush aside, saying that the military was tired, as one of the indirect signs of a conflict between them. Strana.ua, citing a source in Ukrainian political circles, claimed that Zelensky wants to hold elections in Ukraine, but they will not be announced until guarantees are received of Zaluzhny’s non-participation.
