Former Pakistan player Shoaib Akhtar criticizes ICC for excluding Babar Azam from World Cup promo

Former Pakistan player Shoaib Akhtar criticized ICC for releasing World Cup promo without Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Babar Azam has been left out of the promo released by the ICC for this year’s ODI World Cup in India.

“Anyone who thinks the World Cup promo is complete without the presence of Pakistan and Babar Azam is being ridiculous. Show maturity.’- Akhtar tweeted.

Pakistan had come forward demanding a neutral venue for the ICC ODI World Cup matches to be held in India. Pakistan Sports Minister Ehsan Mazari said that this will be raised in the ICC meeting to be held in Durban, South Africa.

India had demanded a neutral venue for the Asia Cup matches hosted by Pakistan. Then it was decided to hold the Asia Cup in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. After this, the Pakistan Cricket Board came out demanding a neutral venue for the World Cup as well.

Mazari asked if India’s matches in the Asia Cup can be held at neutral venues, why not Pakistan’s World Cup matches at neutral venues as well? He stated that Zaka Ashraf, acting chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, will inform the ICC meeting about this matter.

The World Cup starts on October 5. The Asia Cup will be held from August 31 to September 17. Four matches will be played in Pakistan and nine matches will be played in Sri Lanka.
