Kochi: Former Minister Thomas Isaac has been asked to appear in the Kifbi Masalabond case in the ED High Court. The ED told the court that Isaac knows all the information, there will be no arrest and the interrogation will be filmed. Meanwhile, Kifbi has informed that the CEO cannot be produced and Kifbi DGM and the manager can be produced. DGM Ajosh Krishnakumar has been directed to appear before the ED on 27th and 28th of this month.

The court also stated that the issue of the summons sent to Thomas Isaac will be decided after Kifbi informed that he will appear in the summons issued by the ED. Whether to attend or not is entirely up to Isaac. Justice Devan Ramachandran reiterated that the court is not commenting on that. The court said that the pleas of Kifbi and Isaac will be considered again on March 7, when the case will be considered. A report regarding the attendance of KIFB officials should also be submitted.

Isaac argued that the ED did not specify the reason for which he was being summoned. He vacated the ministry in 2021. Can’t reply to Kifbi related stuff after that. Till then the matter has been submitted to ED. But the ED argued that Isaac knew more about the disbursement of masala bond funds. It is not possible to say now what other matters require explanation. The court said that otherwise the investigation will be without substance.

On Friday, the court had asked Thomas Isaac whether he could appear before the ED once in the case. The court also said that it will ensure that there will be no arrest. The High Court’s question was while considering the pleas of Kifbi and Thomas Isaac against ED summons in the Masala bond case. Thomas Isaac ignored 5 notices sent by ED.
