The court did not accept the request for suspension of execution of dismissal by former Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) director Seok-nyeon Yoon.
On the 15th, the 11th Administrative Division of the Seoul Administrative Court (Presiding Judge Kang Woo-chan) dismissed former Director Yoon’s application for suspension of execution of dismissal against President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 14th.
The court said, “It can be seen that former director Yoon found it difficult to carry out his normal duties as a director of Korea Broadcasting Corporation, and that social trust and public interest in the deliberation and resolution process and results of the Korean Broadcasting Board of Directors were disrupted.” The reasons for the dismissal decision were explained.
Former director Yoon was dismissed from the board of directors of Korea Broadcasting Corporation on suspicion of manipulating scores during the TV Chosun re-approval review process.
In March 2020, he was indicted on charges of obstruction of official duties by hierarchy (obstruction of official duties by hierarchy) while serving as the head of the review committee during the TV Chosun re-approval review in March 2020 and causing some judges to lower the evaluation scores of the media.
The Korea Communications Commission approved a motion for dismissal in July, saying, “It is no longer possible for (former director Yoon) to properly perform his duties as a director of Korea Broadcasting Corporation.”
Former director Yoon argued, “The fact that he was dismissed while indicted runs counter to the principle of presumption of innocence and the purpose of the Broadcasting Act guaranteeing the term of office of Korean Broadcasting Corporation directors.”
In response, the court dismissed the application for suspension of execution, saying, “It is difficult to say that there are many circumstances that can be considered as not being valid or reasonable in the reason for the disposition.”
