Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has died at the age of 86, Bloomberg quoted the Corriere Della Sera newspaper as saying.

Berlusconi was admitted to a Milan hospital on the 9th after only three weeks of treatment. He has a history of heart disease, including valve insufficiency, and he underwent heart surgery in 2016 and was hospitalized with a lung infection after contracting the coronavirus in 2020.

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has died at the age of 86, the BBC reported. Although he was deeply involved in sex scandals and corruption allegations during his lifetime, he still managed to make a comeback in the political arena.

Berlusconi died at San Raffaele hospital in Milan, according to Italian media.

Berlusconi was treated in April for a lung infection linked to a previously undisclosed form of chronic leukemia.

Berlusconi, a billionaire in the media circle, has a high-profile style. He became prime minister for the first time in 1994 and led a total of four governments before 2011.

He leads the centre-right Forza Italia party, which formed an alliance with incumbent Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after last September’s general election. Berlusconi himself was elected to the Italian Senator.
