“We are an arm in the Mediterranean. Then the usual problem. Europe taking charge, Germany which has said things in recent times…”: this is how Zanicchi began, obviously alluding to the statements of the German chancellor Olaf Scholz, who on Saturday announced the strengthening of border controls in his country. “You can’t say bad words, right?”, the former Italian asked Del Debbio. Then the singer took off the brakes: “she did some bullshit. It is honorable that you can finance ships that save migrants at sea, but then where do you put them?”, she asked.

You don’t send them to Italy as we already have too many”, he added, sparking applause from the audience. “We must have mercy on these people who die at sea. But you, German ship, must take charge of them and take them there. Giorgia Meloni is fighting for this. We must be tough. Go to Europe and really fight with your fists. They did France and Germany were the masters and we were bringing up the rear”, he concluded.
