Sentenced for murder, Patricia Krenwinkel, a former supporter of sect leader Charles Manson, remains in prison after more than 50 years. A California probation council first recommended Krenwinkel’s release last May. Krenwinkel, in prison since 1969, had asked for clemency for the fifteenth time. The governor must review such requests and can block a release.
