Former Bundesliga professional: Johan Djourou ends his football career – football

He asked himself a lot of questions. “But then at some point it clicked. And I felt in my stomach that the time had come. ”

The Swiss national player was loaned to Hannover 96 by Arsenal for six months in 2013. The central defender then played for Hamburger SV until August 2017 and was also captain in the meantime. He not only has fond memories of his time at HSV, especially not of the coach Markus Gisdol at the time. “The coach didn’t like that I always had an answer, that I tried to understand why,” he said. As a result, he also lost his captaincy. Most recently Djourou played for the Danish first division club Nordsjaelland.
