Former Anderlecht player involved in Chelsea fraud investigation

The former Anderlecht player received a commission of almost €300,000 from a separate Chelsea company. In London, the actions of Roman Abramovich are being studied at length.

Since leaving Chelsea, Roman Abramovich has left the Blues in a tough situation. The one who built the club’s best years did not always use very clear methods and is now the target of an investigation for tax fraud.

Among the payments studied, that received by… Frank Arnesen, Anderlecht player between 1983 and 1985, great PSV legend who also worked for Sporting as sporting director, in 2019.

In this large-scale survey conducted by The Guardianwe learn that Arnesen would have received a payment of 287,000, coming from a different company from the Chelsea club.

When contacted, Arnesen said he was not aware of any wrongdoing. “I expected this bonus to be paid from Chelsea’s account. I was not aware that this broke the rules, so I declared the amount to the FISC.”

If the former Anderlecht player does not risk much, if anything at all, Roman Abramovich is in deep trouble. Many have long doubted the nature of the club’s financing by the Russian businessman, their doubts have been confirmed again and again.
