Ford will stop producing the big eight-cylinder for Jaguar, but the British will be able to handle it themselves

Many consider the five-liter “cap” with eight cylinders and a compressor to be an obsolete engine, a kind of dinosaur at a time when others are betting on turbocharging. For a while, Jaguar Land Rover engineers thought the same way, but their customers, who love the engine, convinced them. The unit will remain.

Currently, the engine is still manufactured by Ford in its British factory Bridgend, but it plans to close it definitively this year. That’s why the legendary V8 engine was in jeopardy. The speculation was not helped by the Jaguar Land Rover itself, which, in connection with its future, spoke only of engines with six cylinders. Of course, electrification was also on the agenda.

But according to the British server Autocar, everything is different. The five-liter V8 engine will remain on offer, and production will move to a factory in Wolverhampton. The machines for its production and some of the workers will also go with it.
