Nice and green
Ford has expanded its climate goals. The manufacturer wants to be completely CO2 neutral by 2050 worldwide.

Ford previously stated that before 2035 it will only use locally generated, sustainable energy for all its factories. The manufacturer now adds that it wants to be completely CO2 neutral by 2050. To this end, the brand focuses on three areas that together account for 95 percent of CO2 emissions: the cars themselves, the supplier network and the production facilities. Ford expresses this objective in the sustainability report just presented.
Ford adds that it currently already uses pure ‘green’ power for its factories in the UK. Also, the facilities in Romania and all factories that the brand has in Cologne would already use green electricity.
Ford is currently busy electrifying its model range. In a relatively short period of time, the brand is adding plug-in hybrid versions of cars such as the Kuga and Explorer to its delivery program and various models, including the Fiesta and Focus, are available with mild-hybrid technology. In addition, from the beginning of next year the brand will have an electric SUV in the showrooms with the Mustang Mach-E, a car with which the brand more or less resumes the line that it has deployed with the Focus Electric. Until 2022, Ford says it will invest more than € 10 billion in the development of electric cars. The brand ultimately wants to offer an electrified version of each model. By the end of next year, a total of eighteen electrified cars should be on Ford’s menu in any way.
