Ford to Lay Off 1,400 Employees Due to Decreased Production of F-150 Lightning Pickups

Ford is forced to lay off about 1,400 employees from one of its plants.

Western media shared information that reveals the situation in which Ford found itself. Thus, it is reported that some of the brand’s employees will be fired or sent on vacation. The reason for this lies in the decrease in production volumes of Ford F-150 Lightning pickups. In general, high hopes were placed on the model, which were not justified. The Bloomberg portal reports that it is planned to reduce the workforce by 1,400 workers.

So, from April 1, the company will transfer the plant to one shift, so the previous number of employees is no longer required. This is what caused their dismissal. It is reported that someone will be asked to retire in accordance with the 2023 Ford-UAW contract, where this measure is spelled out. The sharp decline in the production of electric pickup trucks was triggered by low consumer demand.

At the same time, the plant for the assembly of Bronco and Bronco Raptor SUVs, as well as Ranger and Ranger Raptor pickups, located in Michigan, on the contrary, requires increased staffing. For this purpose it is planned to hire 900 new employees. In total, 1,600 workers are required, which can be met by transferring 700 people from the Rouge complex, where the F-150 Lightning is assembled (photo: Ford).

Earlier, Sergei Zinoviev told how to correctly buy a used Kia Rio. The model has several clear advantages.
