Ford revives legendary name for Focus-based pickup

Maverick first appeared in the Ford lineup half a century ago – in the late 1960s, this name was called the bestseller family of sedans. From 1977 to 1988, the name was not used until Ford started selling the Maverick Nissan Patrol Y60 for the Australian market in the late 1980s.

The next time Maverick was remembered when they promoted the Nissan Terrano II in Europe in the early 1990s. Ten years later, the European version of the Escape crossover was named the same name. Last time Ford removed Maverick from the range in 2007, and the revival of the universal name under the guise of a pickup is unlikely to take place in the coming months.
