For the sake of research, Australian Scientists Released Their Arms to Eat 5,000 Female Mosquitoes

PR BANDUNGRAYA – The dengue virus which causes dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) is still a threat to mankind.

In Indonesia itself, the case DBD is still a big homework (PR) for the government, including the Ministry of Health when the rainy season arrives.

In order to find effective ways to suppress the spread dengue virus, Dr. Perran Stott-Ross, an expert from the University of Melbourne recently conducted research by letting thousands mosquito bite his arm.

As quoted Pikiranrakyat-bandungraya.com from Oddity Central, Thursday 1st October 2020, Dr Perran let mosquito biting his arm, regularly feeding the mosquito to find ways to eradicate dengue fever.

Dr. Perran has been involved in research mosquito at the University of Melbourne for many years. Currently, the focus of his research is on how to find effective ways to curb the spread of the dengue virus, which is spread among humans through mosquito.

One of the most promising strategies is to infect herds mosquito with Wolbachia, a bacteria that naturally blocks the transmission of dengue fever and is passed down from generation to generation.
