The Chinese brand “Shaomi” (Xiaomi) for the first time took second place in the world market of smartphones, ahead of the American giant “Apple”. This is according to a report by the analytical company “Canalys”.
According to the results of the second quarter of this year, Shaomi’s market share increased to 17 percent with a jump in deliveries of 83 percent on an annual basis. Apple’s share for this period was 14 percent, and the supply of its products increased by only 1 percent.
The first place is occupied by the South Korean giant “Samsung” (Samsung), which controls 19 percent of the market (supply growth of 15 percent). The top 5 also includes the Chinese brands “Vivo” and “Oppo” – 10 percent each (respectively 28 percent and 27 percent increase in deliveries).
Compared to Samsung and Apple, the average price of Shaomi smartphones is about 40 percent and 75 percent lower, respectively, said expert Ben Stanton from Canalis.
