Landscape architect Siegfried Lösch had come to the meeting. His job: the planning of the embankment area, the access to the rectory and the repair of the stairs at the church entrance on Hohersdorfer Straße in Rottendorf. The measures should be summarized again and explained to the committee in order to then initiate the tender and award.
Application refused
However, the road renovation in Rottendorf had caused quite a stir beforehand. That was the reason why councilor Hans-Jürgen Flierl wanted to have the presentation of the next planned design measure – embankment, church staircase, access to the vicarage – removed from the agenda at the public meeting: It has not yet been clarified in writing who will be responsible for any cost increases for road expansion take over. Mayor Josef Deichl countered that all previous points “have been processed”. Only one property still has to be clarified, which the owner probably wants to have a lawyer or appraiser do.
With 12: 3 votes (against Hans-Jürgen Flierl, Jens Tölg and Ramona Birner) Flierl’s application failed. As Mayor Deichl then further explained, there were two on-site meetings with landscape architect Lösch and the citizens to discuss how the perimeter should be designed. There was also contact with the church administration. The driveway into the rectory becomes flatter. Then you also have the option of connecting the youth home and the old garages to the sewer network.
Recycle steps
Siegfried Lösch then specified his design ideas for the street environment. The embankment area that stretches from Hohersdorfer Straße into Dorfstraße is flattened with retaining walls. Granite blocks are used, which are set in dry construction. The cemetery stairs have damaged areas. It is important that it is rehabilitated, said Lösch. The old granite steps are to be removed and recycled. The stairs are lowered by one step, which means that a flatter approach to the rectory can be created: from 18 to 16 percent gradient. In this way, the side parking spaces can then be adapted without major structural effort. Second Mayor Andreas Altmann suggested a railing at the staircase.
