They have to test their strengths in breaking several electric car subsystems, which represent three levels of Tesla security. At the first stage, the most difficult, you will need to create a chain of exploits to execute arbitrary code that will allow you to get full access to the “Autopilot”, the VCSEC (Vehicle Controller Secondary) system, which is responsible for protection against penetration into the cabin, and the central Gateway data gateway. The most successful cracker will receive $ 500,000 and Model 3 for their work.

The second stage prize is more modest, as are the tasks. Hackers will need to access the multimedia system, “Autopilot” or the vehicle’s CAN bus. For a successful attempt, they will be able to count on a prize in the amount of 50-100 thousand dollars. At the third stage of the participant, you need to access the media center using a USB flash drive, disable autopilot, or crack a key fob / virtual key in your smartphone. It provides not only a monetary reward, but also a new electric car.
