Within two and a half weeks, the Ahauser Verein Kellerkinder eV and the football clubs Eintracht Ahaus, SV Heek, ASV Ellewick and SpVgg Vreden set up a charity day. The entire proceeds, as of Sunday over 25,000 euros, should benefit those affected by the flood disaster in the Ahr valley.

In the Hamalad Stadium in Vreden, the organizational team around Michael Schaedel organized a day for the whole family. The focus was on football. After the mini-kickers had shown their skills under the eyes of the mayors Karola Voss (Ahaus), Franz-Josef Weilinghoff (Heek) and Tom Tenostendarp (Vreden) as well as many other spectators, the adults stepped on the scene: Eintracht Ahaus defeated SV Heek 8: 2, SpVgg Vreden beat ASV Ellewick 1: 0. The teams that had not played against each other dueled each other on penalties.
The four teams wore specially made jerseys, for each of which sponsors had sponsored a certain amount of money. This alone resulted in a considerable amount of donations in advance, as Michael Schaedel explained. “We are very happy that so many people supported us in the campaign. We realize that this is just a drop in the bucket in the crisis region, but I think any help is welcome. “
Eintracht tournament winner
The organization team with the chairmen of the four football clubs will decide in retrospect which organization or initiative the total amount will ultimately go to. The participants were happy to take part in the campaign, as Eintracht trainer Frank Wegener said. “This is a great campaign and we were happy to have played our part.” His team also won the tournament in the end, ahead of Vreden, Heek and Ellewick.
SpVgg chairman Christoph Kondring was also satisfied with the charity campaign. “It was exhausting, but it was definitely worth it.”
